From October 10 to 12, 2025, the 8th Hainan Resident Physician Clinical Skills Competition and the 6th Standardized Training Faculty Teaching Competence Competition were successfully held and concluded. This year's competition set up five professional groups, including Internal Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, and General Practice. It attracted 36 teams from 13 hospitals inside and outside Hainan Province (including 6 hospitals outside the province) to compete on the same stage.
The Second Affiliated Hospital of HaiNan Medical University(“SHHMU”) performed brilliantly in this competition. It won the first place in the team competitions of the General Practice Group, Surgery Group, and Obstetrics and Gynecology Group, the second place in the Internal Medicine Group team competition, and the third place in the Pediatrics Group team competition. In terms of individual awards for resident physicians, physicians from SHHMU won 2 first prizes, 2 second prizes, and 1 third prize. In the concurrent Standardized Training Faculty Teaching Competence Competition, the faculty team of SHHMU won 3 individual second prizes. This series of outstanding achievements fully demonstrates the hospital's solid accumulation in clinical teaching and talent cultivation.
The achievement of such excellent results is inseparable from the careful care and full support of the hospital's leadership team. During the preparation period for the competition, leaders of the hospital injected warmth and strength into the participating teams in various ways. Vice President Chen Huanxiong visited the Skills Training Center in person, brought coffee to the resident physicians who were training hard, and thoughtfully arranged working meals and midnight snacks to ensure the physical strength and state of the team members. During the National Day holiday, Deputy Secretary Pang Xiaoman made a special trip to comfort the teachers and students who persisted in training with fruit baskets, communicated cordially with them, and learned about the training progress and actual needs. Secretary Xie Yiqiang visited the Skills Center in person to inspect and guide the work, and put forward the competition preparation concept of "promoting teaching through competitions and promoting learning through competitions". Vice President Zeng Yuecan conducted multiple rounds of review and check on the skills training schedule to ensure that the training content was systematic, scientific, and close to actual combat.
During the competition, the company and care of the hospital's leaders were meticulous and warm. Every morning, Vice President Zeng Yuecan arrived at the competition venue in advance, personally helped the contestants wear their competition numbers neatly, and encouraged them: "Relax, your usual efforts are your greatest confidence." Secretary Xie Yiqiang and Deputy Secretary Pang Xiaoman also visited the scene in person, greeted and sent off each batch of team members at the contestant entrance and exit, and waited at the exit after each competition to offer greetings and affirmation in a timely manner. This kind of care that accompanied them throughout the process greatly enhanced the contestants' confidence and sense of belonging. "
SHHMU forging ahead" is not only a loud slogan for this competition but also a vivid reflection of the solid development of the hospital's teaching work. Behind the excellent results lies the hard work of various functional departments and teachers of various professional bases, which fully demonstrates the team spirit of SHHMU in terms of unity, cooperation, and the pursuit of excellence.
This competition comprehensively tested the clinical practical ability, thinking ability, and teamwork ability of resident physicians, and also fully demonstrated the solid results of SHHMU in the standardized training of resident physicians. The hospital will continue to carry forward the spirit of "forging ahead", deepen the integration of medical and educational resources, and continue to contribute to the cultivation of high-quality medical talents and the improvement of the quality of medical services in Hainan Province.
