A New Starting Point for Dream-Chasing, A New Journey Shouldering the White-Coat Mission — The 2026 Graduation Ceremony of the Second Affiliated Hospital (Second Clinical Medical College) of Hainan Medical University Held Grandly

On June 26, 2026, the solemn 2026 Graduation Ceremony of the Second Affiliated Hospital (Second Clinical Medical College) of Hainan Medical University took place within the hospital premises. Centered on the theme "A New Starting Point, A New Journey", the event gathered Secretary Li Jie, Vice President Chen Huanxiong (in charge of overall work), Deputy Secretary Pang Xiaoman, representatives of members of the Academic Evaluation Subcommittee, postgraduate supervisors, as well as all graduates from the 2026 clinical undergraduate upgrading class, clinical medicine undergraduate class, master’s and doctoral programs. Together, they witnessed this milestone moment marking the students’ academic completion and their embarkation on the medical journey.

Presided over by Deputy Secretary Pang Xiaoman, the graduation ceremony kicked off with the rousing national anthem. All attendees stood in solemn silence and sang in unison, paying sincere tribute to the motherland and their faith, officially launching this grand graduation celebration brimming with achievements and expectations.

During the ceremony, college leaders announced the admission results of further studies and the lists of award recipients at all levels for the Class of 2026. The graduating cohort achieved remarkable successes in pursuing advanced education: numerous students were admitted to master’s programs at prestigious domestic medical universities including Sun Yat-sen University, Capital Medical University, Nanjing Medical University and Soochow University. Outstanding graduates also secured doctoral offers from overseas institutions such as the University of Auckland and Juntendo University, alongside top domestic medical schools, continuing their academic pursuit of in-depth medical research.

In terms of honorary commendations, Li Qin, Lü Yongxin and Yan Yuxin were named Outstanding Student Cadres of Hainan Medical University Class of 2026. Twelve students including Fan Yadan, Li Bing and Li Jinghao were awarded Outstanding Graduates of Hainan Medical University Class of 2026. Li Hao and Liang Yaoyao received the Top Ten Graduates honor for the undergraduate and postgraduate groups respectively. Lü Yongxin was shortlisted for the National "Most Beautiful College Student" 2026 initiated by the Ministry of Education and honored as Hainan Provincial "Most Beautiful College Student" 2026. These outstanding young people demonstrated the diligent, rigorous, virtuous and progressive spirit of students from the Second Affiliated Hospital through their solid efforts and outstanding achievements.

Luo Yuwei, representative of undergraduate graduates, delivered a speech. Drawing on her growth experience spanning theoretical coursework and clinical rotations throughout her years of study, she looked back on the gains and touching moments of her academic career. She expressed sincere gratitude to the university for its nurturing, faculty for their selfless teaching and classmates for their companionship. She called on all undergraduate graduates to stay true to their original aspiration of studying medicine, keep grounded and forge ahead in the next chapter of life, and fulfill the mission of medical practitioners with youthful vigor.

Liang Yaoyao, representative of postgraduate graduates, shared insights gained from scientific research challenges and clinical training during her postgraduate years. She thanked her supervisors for thoughtful guidance and the college for building a comprehensive platform for personal growth. She encouraged all postgraduate graduates to march toward new journeys bearing the alma mater’s expectations, forge ahead unswervingly along the medical path and strive for greater academic heights.

Professor Chen Yuewu, representing faculty supervisors, delivered parting words to all graduates. He stated that the road of medicine is long and arduous, and hoped that all students would maintain everlasting passion for the medical profession, deepen their expertise with a lifelong learning mindset and keep pace with cutting-edge medical advances to upgrade their capabilities. He urged them to uphold benevolence as medical practitioners, integrate reverence for life into every diagnosis and treatment, and embody the responsibility of medical workers with warmth. He also encouraged them to retain an exploratory spirit, dare to break new ground in clinical practice and scientific research, and deliver extraordinary value on ordinary posts.

A solemn Teacher Appreciation Ritual was held on site. All graduates held the Teacher’s Tribute Certificate and performed three bows to all supervisors to express gratitude: the first bow to honor the sanctity of teaching and the cultivation of virtue and integrity; the second bow to acknowledge knowledge impartation, guidance and resolution of doubts; the third bow to convey eternal gratitude to teachers, witnessed by heaven and earth. The humble bows carried the students’ heartfelt thanks to supervisors for their teaching, guidance and cultivation, embodying the profound heritage of passing down medical knowledge and spirit.

Warm artistic performances followed. Teachers Pei Shijie and Fu Xiangwei sang Boundless Oceans, Vast Skies, conveying the passion and magnanimity of dream chasers. The choir of the Second Clinical Medical College performed Wish Fulfilled and a medley of songs, weaving warm memories of campus years with melodious tunes and conveying best wishes for the future, filling the venue with a warm and uplifting atmosphere.

After the performances, all graduates stood and recited the Medical Student Oath under the leadership of Vice President Chen Huanxiong. The resounding oath "Health is entrusted to us, lives rest in our hands..." echoed across the venue, reminding all graduates once again of the sacred mission of saving lives and healing the wounded, and strengthening their resolve to dedicate themselves to medical and health undertakings.

Li Jie, Party Secretary of the hospital, delivered a concluding speech. She first extended warm congratulations to all graduates of the Class of 2026 on completing their studies, and paid high tribute to all faculty and staff who have devoted themselves to teaching. To the students about to set off on new journeys, she put forward four earnest expectations:First, ride the tide of the times, grasp the new development direction of the medical and health sector, embrace medical technological innovation proactively, and make contributions on the broad stage of building a Healthy China.Second, preserve a benevolent heart, always put patients first, safeguard people’s health with professionalism and compassion, and become warm-hearted medical practitioners.Third, maintain a reverent heart, respect life, abide by medical ethics, and uphold the sanctity and glory of the medical profession.Fourth, uphold an inquisitive heart, persist in lifelong learning, dare to innovate and make breakthroughs, and continuously scale new heights in medical practice and research.

Towards the end of the ceremony, all hospital leaders and graduate representatives took part in a commemorative tree-planting activity. They shoveled soil, filled tree pits and watered saplings together, planting memorial trees that carry youthful memories and medical aspirations. The trees serve as a lasting promise to bear in mind the alma mater’s teachings, symbolizing that all graduates will take root firmly like young saplings, grow toward the sun, thrive in the expansive field of medical and health services, and shelter countless lives with their expertise in the future.

The graduation song lingers, and bright futures await. This graduation ceremony not only marked a perfect end to the campus life of the Class of 2026, but also served as an in-depth lesson on passing down the mission of medical practitioners. May all graduates carry the instructions and expectations of their alma mater, take this new starting point as their prologue and this new journey as their sail, uphold their original aspiration of medical practice at every post, protect lives and wellbeing with benevolent hearts and consummate medical skills, and contribute youthful strength to the development of China’s medical and health undertakings.
