Overview
Introduction to Pediatric Ward 1 I. Overview Pediatric Ward 1 is mainly responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of general pediatric diseases and severe pediatric diseases. Currently, the department has 41 in-service staff, including 17 physicians and 24 nurses. Among them, there is 1 staff with a senior professional title, 7 with associate senior professional titles, 9 with intermediate professional titles, and 1 with a master's degree. The department has set up a general pediatric ward, an intensive care unit (ICU), and offers general pediatric outpatient and emergency services, Donghu pediatric outpatient and emergency services, a pediatric kidney disease clinic, and a pediatric asthma clinic. The ward has 56 open beds, including 50 beds in the general ward and 6 beds in the intensive care unit. It covers multiple subspecialties such as Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU), Respiratory Medicine, Nephrology & Rheumatology Immunology, Hematology, Infectious Diseases, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Genetic Metabolism, and Endocrinology. Among these, Intensive Care, Respiratory Medicine, and Nephrology & Rheumatology Immunology are the featured subspecialties. II. Medical Service Work In 2016, the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) was formally established, and ventilator-assisted ventilation for severe pediatric pneumonia and pediatric blood purification (including hemodiafiltration, plasma exchange, and hemoperfusion) were launched. In 2017, the assessment of pediatric shock and mini-volume expansion technology were introduced. In 2018, standardized use of vasoactive drugs for children was implemented. In 2019, ABC assessment for pediatric emergency conditions and triage technology were carried out. In 2020, standardized sedation, analgesia, and assessment techniques for critically ill children were developed; pediatric renal puncture and pathological biopsy were also launched. In 2021, bedside rapid B-ultrasound screening for critically ill children was initiated. In 2022, technologies such as exhaled nitric oxide detection, pulmonary function testing, pediatric negative-pressure nasal irrigation, fiberoptic bronchoscopy, and bronchoalveolar lavage were introduced. In 2023, pediatric deep vein catheterization and renal replacement therapy for children with renal insufficiency were carried out. In 2024, bedside brain function monitoring for critically ill children was launched. III. Scientific Research Work The department adheres to the principle of "equal emphasis on clinical practice and scientific research" and encourages medical staff to actively participate in research. In the past three years, it has successfully completed 2 scientific research projects in the health sector of Hainan Province and published more than 10 papers. IV. Teaching Work As an excellent teaching department, it has long undertaken clinical teaching for Hainan Medical University, standardized training for residents, and further training for staff from hospitals at all levels, cultivating and providing a large number of pediatric talents for Hainan. It has achieved excellent results in various standardized training competitions. Teaching Awards Won the first prize in the pediatric group of the Hainan Provincial Clinical Skills Competition in 2020 and 2023. Represented Hainan's pediatric team in the 2023 Inter-provincial Alliance Resident Standardized Training Competition of China's Postgraduate Medical Education and won the group merit award in the pediatric group. Won the second prize in the pediatric group of the 4th Hainan Provincial Resident Training Tutor Teaching Ability Competition in 2023. Won the second prize in the pediatric group of the Hainan Provincial Clinical Skills Competition in 2024. Won the third prize in the pediatric group of the 5th Hainan Provincial Resident Training Tutor Teaching Ability Competition in 2024. In 2025, the department will continue to work hard to advance key tasks, improve its scientific research capabilities, optimize the pediatric outpatient and emergency treatment process to facilitate children's medical treatment, and enhance its comprehensive strength. It will strive to make breakthroughs in the subspecialties of pediatric critical care medicine, pediatric nephrology, and respiratory diseases, increase its influence in the province, and provide more high-quality and professional medical services for children. Introduction to Pediatric Ward 2 I. Overview Pediatric Ward 2 is the Hainan Provincial Guidance Center for the Transfer and Treatment of Critically Ill Neonates. It has a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), wards for premature infants, term infants, isolation wards, general pediatric wards, and laboratories (including micro blood gas, biochemical testing, and micro blood glucose testing), with a total of 50 beds. The department has a well-structured talent echelon and strong technical strength, with more than 50 in-service medical staff. Among the medical team, there are 6 with senior professional titles, 12 with intermediate professional titles, and 5 physicians with master's degrees or above. Many medical staff in the department have received further training in neonatology at well-known domestic and foreign hospitals in Sweden, Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Guangzhou, and other places. It undertakes the training of postgraduates and undergraduates, hosts 8 national and provincial scientific research projects, and has edited, co-edited, and co-translated 12 teaching materials, monographs, and translated works. II. Medical Service Work In 2016, the department became the Hainan Provincial Guidance Center for the Transfer and Treatment of Critically Ill Neonates. It has established a complete set of plans for the treatment and management of common neonatal diseases and critical illnesses, and its premature infant treatment has reached the domestic leading level. The youngest premature infant successfully treated had a gestational age of 26 weeks and a birth weight of 600 grams. The goal of medical work has shifted from simply reducing the neonatal mortality rate to minimizing the disability rate, improving the survival and quality of life of children while reducing the mortality rate. A follow-up system has been established for discharged patients. At the same time, it strengthens close cooperation with the obstetrics, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, and pediatric rehabilitation departments to provide comprehensive services and protection for each high-risk neonate from birth to rehabilitation. A variety of the latest domestic and foreign diagnosis and treatment technologies are carried out, such as non-invasive and invasive ventilation for neonates, synchronous exchange transfusion via peripheral arteries and veins, combined umbilical artery and vein catheterization for neonates, peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC), total parenteral nutrition, transfer of critically ill neonates, neonatal behavioral neurological assessment, screening and intervention for retinopathy of prematurity, neonatal hearing screening, and bedside cranial and cardiac ultrasound examinations. III. Scientific Research Work The department hosts 8 national and provincial scientific research projects, has published more than 60 papers in SCI journals, core journals, and national-level journals, and has edited, co-edited, and co-translated 12 teaching materials, monographs, and translated works. IV. Teaching Work It undertakes the training of five-year undergraduate students majoring in clinical medicine and pediatrics, international students, and postgraduates. It is a national-level standardized training base for pediatrics (established in 2014). "Pediatrics" was rated as a school-level excellent course in 2019 and a provincial-level excellent course in 2024. It won the first prize in the pediatric group of the 3rd (2020) and 6th (2023) Hainan Provincial Resident Physician Clinical Skills Competitions, and the second prize in the pediatric group of the 7th (2024) competition. It also participated in the compilation of national planned textbooks for five-year undergraduates, including "Pediatrics" and "Neonatology", as well as 4 standardized training textbooks. The department will further strengthen and improve discipline construction, promote the coordinated development of medical treatment, teaching, and scientific research, actively develop subspecialties, carry out new technology projects and technological innovations, improve the diagnosis and treatment level of critical and difficult diseases, and enhance treatment technology and service capabilities.Detail>>

Service

The department was reorganized in 2015 and has been developing and growing for several years. Now it has formed a comprehensive development of medical education and research departments with a certain scale and specialty medical characteristics. There are 53 ordinary beds, 7 pediatric intensive care beds (PICU), 32 medical staff, including 1 chief physician, 3 deputy chief physicians, 5 attending physicians, 4 resident physicians, and 20 nursing staff. The general hospital bed is mainly responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of various common and difficult diseases in pediatric medicine, such as respiratory diseases, digestive system diseases, nervous system diseases, endocrine system diseases, cardiovascular diseases, urinary system diseases, hoof tissue diseases, allergies Sexual diseases, skin diseases, etc., carry out cutting-edge genetic testing, drug concentration determination and other technologies;

 the intensive care unit is responsible for the full monitoring of vital signs of various critically ill children, the monitoring of children before and after various operations, and intestinal and external Nutritional support, development of ventilator applications, installation and use of cardiac pacemakers, continuous hemofiltration (CRRT), peritoneal dialysis, pediatric bronchoscopy and other special treatment and rescue techniques.

The sub-specialties include pediatric urinary system diseases: capable of performing kidney biopsy, peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis, and treatment of refractory nephrotic syndrome. 

Pediatric respiratory diseases: There is an independent pediatric asthma clinic, pediatric lung function testing and exhaled NO examination, which provide a powerful guarantee for the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric bronchial asthma. It has a good effect on the treatment of children's respiratory infectious diseases (pediatric pneumonia).
